Snow

When I first moved to Madison, Wisconsin, I did a lot of complaining about the snow. The northern world was already cold. And snow made life so much more difficult.

But, the polar people there only gave me sideways looks. "You don't have skis, do you?" they asked.

Point taken.

I have used that line on others here in Ohio. And while they grumble about the White Witch of Narnia, I can't wait to go cross country skiing.

The best of life is like that. When we can take challenges and struggles and turn them into pure joy, it is like the orchestra of another world is playing.

Changing my writing style: getting rid of so many verbs that ended with "ing," and adding things to what seemed a perfectly complete manuscript--felt wrong. At first. But, I continued to grind through the tough spots. And now as I pick out point of view errors, I hear the music.
