My very first novel was entitled "Ashley's Adventure." I considered that even if I never got published, my daughter Ashley (what a coincidence) would enjoy it. Who knew? It could become a family heirloom.
The Ashley in the story leaves Ohio on a Greyhound bus to her great aunt's house in Wisconsin. She's not too happy about it. And then the bus is waylaid in Indiana by a tornado. In the confusion that follows she picks up the wrong backpack. In it are plans to blow up the Mall of America! The rest of the book has her running from danger and trying to get the information into the right hands.
The rest of the book that never was that is... My computer's hard drive crashed about chapter seven. The entire story was crispy toast. I had not yet learned the wonders of flash drives.
"Save daily. Save often." My new motto.
